Hello! Nice to meet you. We are the Sunnyvale Seventh-Day Adventist Church, part of a world-wide movement that emphasizes following the example of Jesus, especially in living out his demonstration of God’s other-centered kingdom.
In the fast-paced and low-touch world of Silicon Valley, people often crave real connection and purpose—but finding an authentic community can be tough. At Sunnyvale SDA Church, our mission is to offer an open, welcoming path for anyone seeking a deeper relationship with God and a supportive family of faith. We want you to find genuine spiritual growth and friendships, empowering each person to share hope and tangible representations of God’s goodness here in the Bay Area—and far beyond.
In a byte: Seventh-day Adventists share the core Christian beliefs about God, Jesus, and salvation by faith, but with a special emphasis on Sabbath rest, holistic living, a unique perspective on life after death, and a strong focus on Jesus’ return. If you have questions about any of the above, we’d love to chat over a cup of coffee (or herbal tea if you’re really feeling healthy!).
You know how some churches get noticed for what —or who—they’re against? Here at Sunnyvale SDA Church, we’re not about that life....

It’s our go-to guide for life and faith. We believe God inspired its writing, and it tells the story of God’s love and plan for humanity.
Like many other Christians, we baptize by immersion (think “full dunk”) as a public statement of committing our lives to Christ.
Jesus lived a perfect life, died to save us from sin, and was resurrected—offering us hope, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life.
We don’t earn God’s favor by being perfect. Instead, God’s grace covers us when we trust in Jesus—it’s a gift, pure and simple.
We believe in the power of prayer, gathering in worship, and supporting each other’s spiritual journeys.
We go to church on Saturday, which you’ll often hear us call the Sabbath (it means “rest”). We take this rest seriously, doing things that recharge us physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually. Why? Because being rested means we have more energy to love and serve our neighbors.
We believe that when someone passes away, they’re in a peaceful “sleep” until Jesus returns. It’s a comforting idea—no ghostly wandering or instant “poof.” We trust God with the timeline.
You might hear about Ellen White’s writings. We see her as someone God used to encourage the church, but the Bible is always our top authority.
We see our bodies as gifts from God, so we encourage a healthy lifestyle. You might spot an Adventist potluck loaded with veggie dishes or hear about Adventists living longer in places like Loma Linda, California—one of the famous “Blue Zones.”
“Adventist” literally points to our hope in the soon return (or “advent”) of Jesus. We study biblical prophecies to understand—and anticipate—His coming.
